The Fossil View cabin is a three-story log structure situated on a historic mining claim about 27 miles northeast of Gunnison. Including the basement, there are three levels with a total of 3,000 square feet, four bedrooms, and two and one half baths. Set up as a retreat property, the bedrooms and extra spaces are set up with bunks to sleep 15. There is cellular phone reception at the property.
Is this a year-round recreation retreat? Yes, if you have snowmobiles or a snowcat, which is the only source of winter access. The property is well set up for snowmobiles, with a parking area for ATV’s and snowmobiles under the deck. Generators, fireplaces, and heating systems are set up for year-round use. Summer and fall access is good even with a passenger car. This is an excellent property for family retreats, church retreats, ministry, or backcountry getaways.
This property offers access to thousands of acres of National Forest lands, with some of the best elk and deer hunting in Colorado. The owners of this property have taken numerous trophy bucks and bull elk from this property. Elk licenses are available over the counter for second and third rifle season.
